Jay is an unabashedly Black, unabashedly queer digital media, pop culture, political, and performing arts enthusiast. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, he received an undergraduate degree in Theatre Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, which naturally led him to a career in digital organizing and political organizing. Jay’s prior work includes organizing Virginia’s historically black colleges and universities in the run up to the state’s 2017 statewide elections. The 2017 cycle saw historic turn out amongst young people and voters of color, and also led to the most diverse class of legislators elected in Virginia’s history. Jay seeks to uplift the stories of queer people and people of color, as well as make civic engagement accessible and even fun.
