Happy birthday to two amazing women who changed the world through their writing. What are your favorite quotes from Toni Morrison and Audre Lorde?
In the wake of Parkland, we saw an increased push for militarizing schools and criminalizing students.

This is not the answer to school safety. We must ensure Black & Brown youth have safe, supportive and inclusive schools. Youth are leading the way.
#YouthDemand:
Divestment from school policing
Mental & emotional health services
Restorative practices
Better pay for teachers
On the 1st anniversary of the #Parkland tragedy, we mourn the 17 victims of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS & we honor the youth from California and across the country who continue to stand up for safety from gun violence. #YouthDemand #CounselorsNotCops
Big shout out to youth leader Genesis Gonzalez from @actforwomenandgirls a Power CA partner in Central Valley. A year ago, young people, like Genesis turned tragedy into power. I was one of 500 youth leaders who, as part of Power California, a statewide youth civic engagement network, called, texted and knocked on doors to remind our peers that voting builds real political power on the issues we care about."⠀

Young people have always been at the center of social movements in this country. Most of the Freedom Riders were college students willing to put their young lives on the line for justice and equality. We’re proud to continue their work today. #BlackHistoryMonth
