Mariela Vasquez Herrera

Mariela is a first-generation college graduate from Fresno State with a bachelor’s in Sociology and a Social Justice and Social Change certificate. She began to get involved in community organizing in 2020 during the pandemic. Realizing that positive change and resources are needed in our communities inspired her to become involved in various voter outreach efforts with different organizations in the Central Valley, taking her from being a canvasser to leading teams of canvassers to now running statewide alliance campaigns at Power California. She has worked on field programs ranging from registering people to vote, census outreach, pandemic worker’s rights, tax benefits, environmental issues, and candidate election work. Mariela is excited to expand her leadership and continue fighting for social justice.
