Ruth Sosa Martinez

She/Her

Ruth Sosa Martinez, born and raised in Visalia, California, is the proud daughter of immigrant parents. Growing up in a low income community and being a constant witness to social and political inequities, motivated her to pursue a career in public service. Ruth brings over six years of experience in statewide youth organizing and advocacy. In her previous role, she worked to train and mentor young adults from historically marginalized backgrounds to become vehicles for change in their communities. By providing hands-on trainings and emphasizing the importance of storytelling, Ruth has helped bridge the gap between grassroots organizing and statewide policy change.

Growing up, Ruth's parents often emphasized the importance of education. After receiving her Associate of Arts in Deaf Studies from College of the Sequoias, Ruth transferred to California State University, Sacramento where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Currently, Ruth is completing her Master's in Public Policy and Public Administration (PPA) from California State University, Sacramento. With her new degree, she hopes to contribute to creating equitable policies that impact California's most vulnerable communities.

In her free time, Ruth enjoys spending time with her loved-ones, adopting new hobbies, and exploring new cities in California.
